We Love Books! #3: February 2016

This month I'm focusing on one of Emma's old favourites and the book that I'm currently carrying around in my bag wherever I go in the hope I'll get a chance to read a bit!

Emma's books:

Curious George

Emma has had this handy little case of Curious George books since she was a baby and, just like many of her books, toys and clothes, it was a hand-me-down from her godmother's daughters.  There are four little board books in the case, just the right size for a toddler to carry around, and I definitely think the case itself is part of the appeal; opening and closing it, taking out the books and putting them back in!

When my parents were here last summer, Emma really enjoyed having these books read to her and showing us different things in the pictures, making the taxi noise, pointing up to the sky when we got to the page where George is flying through the air while hanging onto a bunch of balloons. Recently, she gets more excited about some of her other books, but she still goes back to the little Curious George books (and I always seem to be finding them lying around and having to put them back in the case!)

My book:

Istanbul Passage

The book I'm reading at the moment isn't one I chose myself, and I wasn't sure if I would really get into it.  Well, I have, in fact and it has turned out to be a pretty gripping read.  Istanbul Passage by Joseph Kanon is a spy thriller set in Istanbul just after the end of the Second World War.  It was my mum's holiday reading while she was here over the summer and she left it for me when they went back.  I'm just over half way through and I'm enjoying the involving historical and geographical setting as the storyline gets more and more intriguing.  I admit that I'm struggling to find time to do much reading, so it's taken me a while to get this far, but once I start reading, I don't want to put the book down!

Kids Love To Read - Laura's Lovely Blog

  1. Bella loves Curious George. She watches their TV show and also she has watched the movie. I didn't know they had books too. I will have a look as it will be fun to have some at home. The book that you are reading sounds and look very interesting. It is a shame that at the moment I don't have much time to read books. All my time goes to read books for the kids or read lots of blogs, ;-) x #kltr

    1. I know it's so hard to find time for reading! Thanks for your comment!

  2. Oh Curious George is a great one. I had a monkey which I got the day I was born and he ended up being called Monkey George. I still have him today and apparently I named him after the book from a book I had but I do not to this day remember the book. must have made an impression! Thanks for linking up to #KLTR
