August Gratitude List

August...another month has flown by.  I have to admit, blogging-wise the past couple of weeks have been pretty rubbish - I started several posts and still haven't been able to finish them.  After being quite prolific (relatively speaking) in July while on holiday, going back to work has meant a lot less me time, and when I did have little pockets of time to myself I felt too tired and uninspired to write.  I would often fall asleep while trying to write!  All the more reason to be grateful for these things...

August gratitude list
  • I hope that now I've managed to "unblock" my mental block and can get my writing back on track in the coming month.  This is the first thing I'm grateful for - I've finally published my Summer holiday  post and I've got this one underway, so that's an encouraging start.
  • Also on the blogging front, I was excited that one of my quotes that I linked up to the #CandidCuddles linky was chosen by co-host Katie of Growing Up Kater Tot as her favourite quote of the week.  You can see the post here.  It's about choosing to be happy and I think it's worthwhile my re-reading it every so often, just to remind myself.
  • I've started reading again and rediscovered with surprise how good it makes me feel and how much I enjoy it.  So I've been making sure to find little snippets of time to stick my head in a book.
  • Going back to work has its positive side as well.  We were back at work on the 6th of August, but term didn't start for the kids until the 24th so we had some time for preparation and attending various talks and courses.  I had a first-aid and CPR course which I felt was pretty useful, and some positive and inspiring talks mentioning exciting new projects for the year ahead.
  • I'm also glad to be working in such a positive environment; around the school there are encouraging little phrases stuck on the walls.  One of my favourites is at the end of my corridor: "There is always a reason to smile...Find it!"
  • Emma has more teeth now... She has four up and four down at the front and in the past month or so her premolars have come through on both sides, up and down.  We need to practice brushing them now!
  • All the precious moments I get to spend with my little angel... Bedtime stories, bathtime, playing, going out for a walk; her smiles, hugs, kisses and headbutts; pulling my legs to get me to go somewhere, sitting on my legs, telling me "mo mo mo" with a waggle of her finger... I treasure all of these things.

  1. What a wonderful quote to hang on a school wall. It's a lovely, simple, positive reminder for people of all ages. :)

Thank you so much for the mention in your post. I truly loved your quote from last week, and I was thrilled to choose it as my favorite!

You have wonderful things for which to be thankful! I need to start reading again. I put it off to blogging, but I think it's time to get lost in a good book, too! xx

    1. Thanks for commenting! Glad you liked the quotes. I think it's so hard to find time to read and keep up with blogging. I guess I don't really manage to keep up!

  2. There is always a reason to smile - it's important to remind yourself of them though. Blogging can get overwhelming & sometimes you just have to put it aside. Thanks so much for linking up with #candidcuddles x

    1. Thanks for hosting! Even if you can't find a reason to smile, just smile anyway and you'll eventually think of one!

  3. What a fab Quote. There is indeed always a time to smile. I really enjoyed reading your list and the things your doing. Sometimes it's good just to write a list to see what we are achieving. Sometimes I start a post and struggle to finish it. Finding time to write and to link up can be hard work. Thanks for linking up to #positivelyposted

    1. Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes just the act of writing the list makes me remember things and appreciate them more. There are always positive things, no matter how small and seemingly insignificant!
