Last weekend was a long weekend with Monday off thanks to Constitution Day.
We went to this place:
I felt as if I was having as much fun watching Emma as she was having playing! She was the youngest kid there, but she wasn't fazed by the older children charging around. Grownups weren't allowed in, so I just stayed on the edge, encouraging her (and taking loads of photos and videos!). Emma was a little unsure at first, then started copying the other kids by standing on the edge and half-jumping, half-throwing herself into the pool of balls - this was great fun and she did it over and over again! She also discovered that it was great to just roll around, too. She got bolder and went over to the areas at the back, further away from me, following an older girl and it was incredible to see her becoming so much braver and more independent.
I didn't think she would last the one and a half hour time limit when we first went in. Well... the whole hour and a half passed and she was still playing and she DID NOT want to come out! She was pretty tired by then, too, so cue tears and mini tantrum! It was worth it, though. Of course, she fell fast asleep pretty much as soon as we got home.
Another funny thing that springs to mind when I look back at the week is Emma's new game of running around pretending she's riding a motorbike! She stretches out her arms with hands clenched on imaginary handlebars and runs round and round going "brrrmm brrrmmm"!
On another note, this week I made some spinach meatballs and invented a sauce with tomato, spinach and mushroom (blended and sneakily disguised!) and Emma loved them! I thought they were really delicious, too, and I'm very pleased with myself at finding a way to get Emma to eat spinach!
