Make the most of yourself...

"Make the most of yourself...for that is all there is of you." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote reminds me to get a move on and make a start on my little self-improvement project.  Now that we're getting settled into the new house, it's time to organise myself and my household.  It's a little overwhelming when I think about it as I'm disorganised in pretty much every area of my life and I don't know where to start!

So I'm going to start small, little by little, without being over ambitious.  Let me start with the basics: food and sleep.

1. I need to establish and respect our mealtimes and sleeping times (at least for me and Emma).  We've both been going to bed too late - especially me - and part of the problem is a lack of organisation when it comes to eating times.

2. I need to start planning meals and menus for the week, or at least the next few days and shop according to the meal plan.  This will save me time if I already know what food I'm going to prepare.

3. I need to make an extra special effort to go to bed earlier.  Usually, I don't get more than five hours' sleep per night and it's not enough.  My health, mood and state of alertness are probably suffering.

So that's the start of my plan to make the most of myself.  I'm sure I can be so much more than I am and I'm going to prove it to myself.

Make the most of yourself...

  1. I've never heard this quote before, and I love it! These are great words to live by. I think it's always better to start with small goals and then work your way up to the bigger ones. I too would like to start planning my meals in advance! Sometimes my family dinners are pretty pathetic because I just fly by the seat of my pants- lol! It would definitely help if I had a schedule or menu to which I can refer for the week. Thanks so much for linking up with #candidcuddles!

    1. Thanks for hosting! I have to confess I haven't done too well today - it's after midnight and I'm still awake. Well, tomorrow's another day!

  2. I love this quote too. It puts it all in perspective - there's only one of you and it's up to you to get things done! I love your list, it's the most important things - eating and sleeping! Thank you so much for linking up with #candidcuddles x
