Do I like myself?

"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and liking how you do it."

Do I like myself?

This is one of my favourite Maya Angelou quotes, and one I completely agree with.  However, if I think about it in relation to myself I realise I have a long way to go to live up to this definition of "success".

It sounds simple but it really isn't.

Starting with the first point, I don't always like myself.  I need to change a lot of things about myself to be completely happy with who I am.

I'm going to start a long-term self-improvement project, a little at a time and trying to be realistic (there's no point in setting myself up to fail).  As soon as we've moved house, which is happening this week, and settled in a bit.

So watch this space for updates, to find out what my goals are and to what extent I manage to reach them!

  1. That's a really beautiful quote. And that would be the highest form of success: to be truly happy with yourself and who you are. Good luck moving house this week. Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm looking forward to your next installment! Thanks so much for linking up with #candidcuddles xx

  2. I often wonder if I was some body else would I be my own friend? Can I be too insecure, too over bearing, too in your face?? And maybe if I wasn't these things I would like myself more?? Powerful quote xxx

    1. I think it's one of the hardest things to be content with who we are and just accept ourselves. We're usually more critical with ourselves than we need to be and beat ourselves up over relatively insignificant things. Thanks for visiting!

  3. Oh Ruth, this is my biggest difficulty - not only learning to like but to love myself. It;s not an easy task...and going to take time but a work in progress. Angela xx
