#52 Memories Project - Week 1

This new year I'd been thinking about posting a weekly photo to capture a special or ordinary moment from our lives each week.  Then I came across the 52 Memories Project on Cathy's My Sweet Things Blog, which perfectly coincided with what I wanted to do, so I decided to join in.  The first week is a little late (slow on the uptake as usual), so Week 2 will follow shortly, then I'll be posting one a week for the rest of the year - that's the plan, anyway.

This photos is from January 6th, the morning of Día de Reyes (Three Kings Day), when children all over Mexico (and many other countries also visited by the Three Kings) wake up to find presents that the Reyes Magos have brought them during the night.  Here Emma is playing with her surprise present (it was a surprise to me, too), a princess castle, which she is absolutely fascinated with.  My husband took this photo through one of the castle windows!

    1. Thanks for visiting! Yes, I think it'll also be a great way to see how she is changing and growing week by week, as well as recording memories. I need to hurry up and post my week 2 entry before I get too far behind!

    1. Día de Reyes is when the 3 Kings were supposed to have visited baby Jesus, bringing gifts, but it's only children who receive presents on this day (from the 3 Kings). Once they get to a certain age, they're considered too old. Santa Claus is a relatively modern import - lucky kids, they get two lots of presents!
It's funny, I wasn't sure if Emma would be able to do much with the castle - it's supposed to be from 18 months onwards and she's still only 10 months old, but she's fascinated by anything that has moving parts and makes noises, so it does in fact keep her entertained for a long time!
